YAIJ's Entrepreneur & Employment Exploration Program

The YAIJ Youth Employment & Entrepreneur Incubator

The Youth Entrepreneur Incubator Program (YEIP) offers a low pressure, flexible, employment & entrepreneur exploration experience for youth between 15-30 who face racial and dis/ability barriers to employment and who are historically underemployed.

The program is designed to help youth explore employment options, discover entrepreneur opportunities, and earn a living wage while in the program.

Kieshawn's Experience in YAIJs Incubator

In the fall of 2023 Kieshawn had an opportunity to be mentored by award winning music professionals in the Canadian music industry, he attended music, writing, and art education workshops and seminars, and gained more insight into the business side of the music business. These experiences were invaluable. This was the first time Kieshawn had ever met award-winning music professionals within and external to his community. It was the first time he was able to access music education which matched his learning interests, learning styles, and potential. This experience has led to new industry connections, and a paid position working independently as a hip hop artist in residence.
